OUR NEXT NATIONAL CONVENTION – SCHEDULE

From August 30 – September 2, our upcoming convention in Buffalo, held at Eugene V Debs Hall, will be jampacked with exciting presenters, videos, performers and a firm sense of where SDUSA has been and where it needs to be going. Here is the tentative schedule:

Saturday evening:

6:00 PM Dinner: Michael Mottern’s famous spaghetti

8:00 PM: Keynote Address by David Hacker

9:00 PM: Frontline Documentary tba.

Sunday August 31:

10:00 AM -1:00 PM: Business session including NEC Elections; Aaron Coleman introducing possible changes to our constitution; report from Moses Coleman on the work in Kansas and speaking on Gary Lopez’s campaign with BPU.

1:00-2:30: Panel on Native American issues: Steven Schwartzberg and Jennina Rose Gorman

2:30-3:30: Panel on local organizing and recruitment with Michael Mottern; report on the Mamdani campaign with Sheldon Ranz

3:30-4:30: Panel on sewer socialism moderated by Jason Sibert, with participation from Chris Hawley, Patty Friend and Susan Stevens

5:00-8:00: Dinner and movie tba

8:00-9:00: Dennis King, on “How the Democratic left should rethink NATO and Ukraine: the rise of right-wing populism in what is now the interwar years Europe politics and policies.”

Monday Labor Day:

  1. Do you plan on livestreaming any parts of the convention? My preliminary research shows that while getting to Buffalo from Boston on Labor Day weekend is doable, the traveling involved would be time consuming aggravating, and expensive. I can’t help but think there are others in the SDUSA faced with a situation similar to mine.
